So, I currently have a 3D printed steering wheel that connects to my G25 (old, I know – but it does the job).

It’s not too bad, I made a few tweaks to it but generally it’s held up well, I have it running with the SLI-Pro by LeoBodnar but it’s pretty swish compared to the OEM Logitech wheel.

However, we’re in 2018 (not for much longer), and the F1 steering wheels have been using the McLaren PCU-8D since 2014, so it’s time to upgrade before they change again.

As the turbo-hybrid era has been won by Mercedes, and primarily Lewis Hamilton (he’s from Stevenage, I’m from Hitchin, so he’s local – which is pretty cool). I wanted to get the Mercedes W05-09 style steering wheel in place!

I tried pulling models from games, and I was quite successful in regards to pulling the model.

My downfall was the piecing together, I was able to change sizes and scale the models but that’s not good enough when it comes to 3D printing 🙁

This is where I went on the look for models, and still came back with nothing…. Until I saw someone on reddit who posted their WIP of exactly what I wanted!

After some persuasion, I’ve been lucky enough to be a guinea-pig for the model that he has created! This WordPress will hold the build process and steps/pieces involved.
